Every year I LOVE putting together a review of my clean beauty favourites I discovered that year. It’s never easy to narrow it down, but these products are truly the standout products I found in 2019 that I love and will repurchase again.

This year’s finds are a nice array of natural skin care, hair care and body care products. At the top of the page is a video review of all the products, plus a written review below.

Innersense Hydrating Cream Hairbath and Hydrating Cream Conditioner review for dry, coarse, parched hair

Innersense Organic Beauty Hydrating Hairbath & Hydrating Cream Conditioner

The Innersense hair care products were the biggest hit for me this year. It’s been a good 10 months since I first used the Hydrating Cream Hairbath and Hydrating Cream Conditioner, and I’m still super excited about them.

If you’ve been following my blogs over the years, you know that I’ve always struggled with natural hair care products.

A lot of the them make my scalp itchy or dry out my hair. Sometimes I can find a decent shampoo but not a nourishing enough conditioner. As much as I love the idea of using natural hair care products, a lot of them work great for normal or fine hair, but if you have thick, coarse, damaged, or dry hair that needs extra conditioning; finding a nourishing natural haircare product that actually works, can be challenging.

That is until I tried the Innersense Hydrating Hairbath and Hydrating Cream Conditioner.

These two Innersense hair care products are a complete game changers for me. They’re formulated to restore dry and parched hair.

They’ve made such a difference on my coarse hair; making it soft, healthier and much more manageable.

My hair is thick, dry, frizzy, and I dye it. So it needs extra help, especially deep conditioning.

Since having my second child, I struggle with my hair breaking more easily too, especially around my face.

The number one thing I love about these hair care products is how much it smoothes out the frizz. My hair is so much softer, shiner and healthier using the products.

They’re just as good, if not better than most mainstream products I’ve tried for dry and chemically treated hair.

I was also quite surprised just how long these products lasted. A little goes a long way. I had travel sizes of the Hydrating Hair Bath and Cream Conditioner and they lasted over 3 months, and I was washing my hair twice a week with them.

So if you are like me and have thick, frizzy, dry, dehydrated, coarse, curly, chemically treated, or unruly hair – I highly recommend trying the Hydrating Cream Hairbath and the Hydrating Cream Conditioner.

If your hair is normal or fine – these two products will be way too rich. And that’s ok, cause there’s a full range of Innersense Organic Beauty products to choose from formulated for different hair types and styling.

I’m definitely buying full sized bottles of these two products, plus I want to try more of their products like the Hydrating Hair Mask.

Agent Nateur Holi(Stick) No.3 Deodorant review that is all natural deodorant with a fresh eucalyptus scent that controls body odour naturally

Agent Nateur Holi (Stick) No.3 Deodorant

I love Agent Nateur Holi (Stick) No.3 Deodorant. Not only because it works, but it’s in the conventional stick form making it easy and clean to use.

I’ve been using all natural deodorants for years. I’ve found quite a few that work really well for me, but all of them are in pots or jars. You have to stick your fingers in the pot and apply the deodorant with your fingers. It’s not really messy, but it takes a few extra seconds to wash you hands after applying. Having a natural deodorant in stick format allows you to skip that step, making it hassle-free.

And maybe I’m just lazy, but I like easy, on-the-go body care products. Who wants to wash their sticky hands after applying deodorant when they don’t have to?!

So when I first tried Agent Nateur all natural deodorant, I was over the moon in love. Getting ready just became a lot easier.

And the Agent Nateur Holi (Stick) Deodorant works. I never get body odour when using it.

Plus, I wear a lot of black clothing and the deodorant doesn’t rub off, stain, or mark my cloths.

It’s soft, moisturizing, glides on easily, and I REALLY like the subtle yet fresh Eucalyptus scent.

And it works all day. I’ve never felt the need to re-apply it.

This deodorant has baking soda, which some people are sensitive to. I never had any issue using it daily, and I’ve used it right after shaving my underarms. But if you are sensitive, Agent Nateur also has also has a baking soda-free version called Holi (Stick) Sensitive Deodorant.

Review of Living Libations RoseGlow Complexion Mist for sensitive, acne prone, and dehydrated skin types

Living Libations Rose Glow Complexion Mist

I find a lot of complexion mists and toners can be quite irritating, but not this one.

Living Libations Rose Glow Complexion Mist is hydrating, and soothing. I noticed a big difference in my skin starting from the first few days of using it.

The biggest standout benefits was the immediate reduction of pore size and even skin tone. These days my skin tends to be dehydrated. And the more dehydrated my skin gets, the more I get texture, enlarged pores, redness, and fine lines. Now in my mid-40s, this has become more of an issue than ever. And the Rose Glow Complexion Mist has been a fantastic remedy. It works!

Plus, the formula is simple, which is what I like in a toner or facial mist. I find a lot of mists and toners are made with too many active ingredients and botanicals. They are ok to use on their own, but in combination with other skin care products, they can causes sensitivity or a bad reaction.

This is a big reason I normally avoid them.

But Living Libations Rose Glow Complexion Mist is a very simple and gentle toner. It’s made with pure distilled rose hydrosol, and gentle enough for all skin types, including very sensitive skin. It will hydrate and help balance your skin, resulting in more even skin tone. If you are prone to dryness, irritation, redness or breakouts – this is worth trying.

Rose Glow Complexion Mist can be used multiple ways. It’s not only as a hydrating mist, but it can also be used to prep your skin for better absorption of serums and products, and refresh your skin throughout the day.

The mist is quite fine, so it can also be used as a finishing/setting spray after makeup application. If I use powder or a foundation that appears too matte, I like spritzing my face with this afterwards for a more natural and dewy finish.

I also like using this to prep my skin before using a facial mask. This pairs beautifully with Living Libations Royal Rose Honey Mask.

As we all know, I am a huge fan of Living Libations products, and I love that I still keep finding new products that I fall in love with.

REN Instant Firming Beauty Shot review for firming and hydrating sagging and maturing skin

REN Clean Skincare Instant Firming Beauty Shot

Here’s another product that works amazing for firming and hydrating your skin.

If your skin is losing elasticity and lustre, REN Clean Skincare Instant Firming Beauty Shot is a hydrating gel serum that will instantly plump and firm your skin. Perfect for fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and dull skin.

What I love most about the products is how much it firms and de-puffs bags, swelling and loose skin under my eyes. It lifts and tightens everything!

The power ingredients in this product are the hyaluronans (similar to hyalauronic acid) and phycocolloids (polysaccharides from seaweed). Both these ingredients are humectants and they work together to maximize the water retention in your skin. And that’s what gives your skin the instant firming, smoothing, and plumped appearance.

What makes this product so different from other hyaluronic acid products is the “firming effect.” It truly firms your skin. Once it dries down, you can feel your skin tighten. And it tightens without being uncomfortable or looking crack or dry. In fact, you skin looks smooth and hydrated. I love it!

I’ve tried using the Instant Firming Beauty Shot serum in a variety of ways including layering it under my moisturizer and/or sunscreen, mixed with my moisturizer, and also layered on top of makeup. It has the same firming effect any way you use it.

If your skin needs some extra plumpness and firming, I highly recommend trying this. It’s a gel serum, and compatible with all skin types.

Leahlani Happy Hour Balancing Serum review for irritated, sensitive, acne prone skin.

Leahlani Skincare Happy Hour Balancing Serum

A big highlight for me this year was trying a bunch of Leahlani Skincare products (check out my Leahlani Skincare Review).

I’ve been wanting to try Leahlani Skincare for a while, and I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, Leahlani Happy Hour Balancing Serum fast became one of my favourite oil serums.

Suitable for all skin types, and especially good for red, irritated, or acne prone skin; this oil serum balances and nourishes your skin.

The standout benefits I got from using the serum is how much it reduces redness and irritation in my skin. My skin is a lot healthier, nourished and even when using this product. Plus, the base of the serum is grapeseed oil which I find to be moisturizing without clogging pores (making it safe for acne prone skin).

I like using the Happy Hour Balancing Serum on its own as a serum moisturizer, or I mix it with a moisturizer for a rich overnight moisturizing treatment (I’ve had great results mixing it with Jao Brand Face Creme Sensitive Skin or Living Libations Rose Glow Creme).

Nowadays there’s so many oil blends and oil serums on the market. Sometimes it just feels too much. But Happy Hour Balancing Serum truly stands out as an effective and unique product. It’s very different from the rest. I look forward to repurchasing this, as well as trying more Leahlani products.

FYI: Happy Hour Balancing Serum was formerly called Champagne Serum. It now has a new name and packaging, but the formula remains the same.

Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream review for dry, dehydrated, irritated skin

Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream

If you have dry, dehydrated, sensitive, or irritated skin that needs serious balancing and repair – I highly recommend Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream.

This is one of the best moisturizing, and barrier repairing cream I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot).

It’s a gentle formula, it’s rich and nourishing, doesn’t clog or congest your skin, and it can bring parched skin back to health.

I have very reactive skin. And my skin is especially sensitive to changes in hormones, weather, and stress. In recent months I’ve been experimenting with retinols which can do a number on my skin.

Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream is one product that truly made a difference with balancing and alleviating sensitivity. My skin just loves it.

In general, I find squalane oil to be very restorative for dry and sensitized skin. It seals moisture in without being heavy, and it doesn’t clog pores. I also find it to be one of the gentlest oils available. I love that I found this cream (and the entire Biossance line) that is made with it.

For most people with dry skin, an oil isn’t enough. You need something that is occlusive to seal in moisturize. The Squalane + Omega Repair Cream has a light whipped texture, and has lipids and ceramides that work to restore your skin back to balance. It would be too rich for oily skin types, but perfect for dry, dehydrated, sensitized, and maturing skin.

For the most part, I use it as a night cream. But if I were living in a very dry, or cold winter climate, I would also use it as a protective daytime moisturizer.
